My Approach

exercise therapy

"My true passion lies in rehabilitation- working with complex cases that require a holistic approach with a strong focus on exercise therapy"

I believe that finding the source of the limitation through a thorough verbal and physical examination is key, then working closely with the client to correct postures, behaviours and attitudes.

I am a true believer that the body is made to move. Most injuries occur due to an imbalance in the body through tightness, weakness or poor proprioception (awareness of where you are in space) or a sudden overload to the systems.

I prefer a focus on exercise for rehabilitation which often helps the client have a better commitment to treatment options and allows them to be in control of their recovery.

Throughout your rehab session we will focus on firstly correcting posture, alignment and connecting mind to body. Then regaining symmetry and control throughout the body. I am a firm believer of starting with the foundations and working up, especially postnatally. Breath work is a key part of my approach too, providing not just better function to the diaphragm, a key core muscle but helping tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing rest, repair and recovery.

Since lockdown I have been treating many clients online and having excellent results and it shows that most of the time you don’t always need a hands-on approach to get better. You need targeted exercises and time to build strength and mobility. I also use manual therapy, taping and soft tissue release where appropriate to support rehabilitation.

I thrive on building a personal relationship with each of my patients. I enjoy empowering them with information to understand their condition or injury helping to lead to long term benefits through a change in behaviour.

Elements of mobility, flexibility and strengthening. The aim is to work towards always coming back to the perfect posture thus retraining our bodies awareness of where it is (proprioception) and helping encourage this to feed into our daily lives.

Antenatal Pilates

Challenging but safe classes, targeting the common problem areas in pregnancy, maintaining fitness, strength and posture.

Postnatal Pilates

Specifically aimed at encouraging the pelvic floor and transverse abdominals to start to get back in sync and build your strength from the foundations. We also work through some lovely stretches to help relieve common tight areas such as upper back all whilst your baby plays on the floor next to you.

MSK Physiotherapy

As a physiotherapist I strongly believe in movement as a form of rehabilitation. Often aches and pains come with muscle imbalances, whether tightness or weakness. Following a discussion, explaining my findings and helping you understand your condition we will plan your treatment and rehab program.

Antenatal Physiotherapy

Pregnancy is an exciting but emotional time. So many changes and unknowns. Adding pain into the mix of that is worrying and can be very limiting. Your body is undergoing huge hormonal and musculoskeletal changes and it is important to maintain good strengthen and posture throughout.

Postnatal Physiotherapy

Following the birth of your baby the support and advice seems to drop away. Coming to terms with the changes that have occurred to your body postnatally can be difficult. You may find you still have pelvic girdle pain, incontinence or are worried about having a diastasis. You might just want some guidance about how to return to sport safely.
