My Approach
exercise therapy
"My true passion lies in rehabilitation- working with complex cases that require a holistic approach with a strong focus on exercise therapy"
I believe that finding the source of the limitation through a thorough verbal and physical examination is key, then working closely with the client to correct postures, behaviours and attitudes.
I am a true believer that the body is made to move. Most injuries occur due to an imbalance in the body through tightness, weakness or poor proprioception (awareness of where you are in space) or a sudden overload to the systems.
I prefer a focus on exercise for rehabilitation which often helps the client have a better commitment to treatment options and allows them to be in control of their recovery.
Throughout your rehab session we will focus on firstly correcting posture, alignment and connecting mind to body. Then regaining symmetry and control throughout the body. I am a firm believer of starting with the foundations and working up, especially postnatally. Breath work is a key part of my approach too, providing not just better function to the diaphragm, a key core muscle but helping tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing rest, repair and recovery.
Since lockdown I have been treating many clients online and having excellent results and it shows that most of the time you don’t always need a hands-on approach to get better. You need targeted exercises and time to build strength and mobility. I also use manual therapy, taping and soft tissue release where appropriate to support rehabilitation.
I thrive on building a personal relationship with each of my patients. I enjoy empowering them with information to understand their condition or injury helping to lead to long term benefits through a change in behaviour.
